The RIU Ocho Rios resort is a great resort with lots of appeal. There was alot of entertainment and activities for all ages and it is located 5 minutes froms Dunn's River Falls and about 15 minutes from the town. With the new highway completed, the ride from the airport was about one and half hours with a stop for a bathroom break.
As with any all inclusive resort all meals and drinks were included. There are two pools on the property but one was only for the club level which was located on the other side of the hotel. The main pool was very nice and was always active. The staff at the pool bar was great! I highly recommend the spa, even though it was small, it was reasonably priced.
Food was okay at the buffets and I tried the Asian restaraunt which was good. At lunch, the also had a jerk hut on the beach which served jerk chicken and sausage. This was the best food for me on the resort but there was a long line to get it.
The rooms are all very nicely decorated and all are equipped with infamous liquor dispenser that RIU has at all of their resorts. I had a great view from my room which is were most of the pictures of the courtyard above were taken from. However, it was a very long walk to get to all of the activities so be prepared.
Many of the people staying at the hotel had many good things to say about it. This hotel is very popular for weddings since it can accomodate all age groups. I saw many going on when I was there on the beach with the ocean as the backdrop. The beach was always busy but not to crowded. An artist that was on vacation made an awesome sand sculpture of a dinosaur! I would recommend this hotel.
